iPad Buying Decision – Do You Really Need A New Laptop?

Last week the phone rang… It was my brother panicking, telling me that his laptop had died on him.
Since I’m the family’s IT expert, I went over and had a peek at his laptop.

It was already 4 years old and I had fixed it several times in that period. It had overheated
because of all the dust it had collected inside.

My conclusion was to remove the hard-disk and save his important data on an external drive and look for a new computer.

First I asked him what he used his laptop for, just to get a good idea of what to buy next.

His answer was:

- E-mail
- Internet
- Online banking
- Facebook
- Skype
- Reading the news
- Watching YouTube
- His kids and wife playing games
- Updating his website

While going through this list I told him “You don’t need a laptop for this, you can use an iPad.”

At first he didn’t like the idea, because people generally don’t like change. And he was accustomed to
sitting at his desk doing his “thing”.

But when I told him the benefits:
- It can work for 10 hours on one battery charge
- You can comfortably take it on your lap, without the heat of a laptop
- You don’t need a keyboard or mouse
- You can sit in the couch and do some browsing on the net instead of being alone in the study
- Or you can sit in the study instead of the crowded living-room, without dragging an adapter, mouse or other cables around.
- Save a lot of space on your desk

Well he got the point and decided to follow my advice and get an iPad, since it was still cheaper than a new laptop too.

So do you still need a computer or a laptop considering the above?

iPad Secrets?

What was the first thing you looked for when you opened your iPad box? Indeed! There was no instruction manual in there! Apple decided to cancel the glossy full-color instruction book.
Apple thinks their products are so easy that you don’t need a manual. And, maybe that’s true if you’re just going to use your iPad as an overpriced digital photo frame.

But you want to unlock it’s full potential! Unfortunately, if no one actually shows you some of the iPad’s less-obvious tricks and tips, you’ll probably never discover them on your own. And, that is the iPad’s one BIG flaw.

We’ve come across an exciting new solution for people who want to know everything about their iPad. A guy with extensive iPad knowledge, a.k.a.  iPad Pete has designed a video course to teach you the ins and outs of your iPad. Pete’s recorded video lessons cover every single feature and benefit of your iPad. You’ll learn to setup and use your iPad.

You can watch your iPad Video Lessons at your own convenience. If you just watch 11 minutes a day, you’ll quickly and easily gain an understanding of your iPad. The videos are easy-to-follow, step-by-step, tap-by-tap video instructions.

You’ll find these lessons are a tremendous return on investment that save you hours and hours of frustrating guesswork. We’ve been using the iPad for some time and even we have learned some new things!

Go and check a sample video and more details over at his site.

Happy studying!

How To Make The iPad Useful

A lot of people will tell you that the iPad is mainly a consumption device. But laptops are also consumption devices.  The main difference, however, is that people go to their laptops to create things like documents or maybe a software program.  It could be the screensize, software, storage or any number of factors, but the fact remains  that laptops are useful as desktops.  Can the iPad be useful too?

A device, be it a laptop or an iPad is only useful when it finds a need or fixes a problem you’re having. It comes down to the fact that you’ll have to decide it’s useful.

For example, let’s say you have a very busy schedule and you need some personal organizing.
There must be an App for that! So you open the App Store in your iPad and you look form some great calendering or scheduling apps. Great! You get one, use it for some time and decide that it’s a great app to organize your life.

Another example. Imagine you have to do a big project for your boss or for a client and you want to keep track of everything and manage things till perfection. So you decide to install an app that helps you manage your project. As the project progresses you’ll might need an app to manage your expenses or one to manage your project documents. You can install an app for just about every need you might have.

The iPad has now become useful. The point is, that in the above cases you had a need to fill. If you just want to check you e-mail or view photos, you can still use your laptop. In that case the iPad doesn’t replace anything. Sure, it’s lighter and the battery lasts longer but there is no real need for it.

When you take a need or a problem you are having and find a device to help you accomplish that, then it becomes useful.  It may not be used to create anything but it is helping you solve a problem that you are currently experiencing.

Find a problem you are currently having, and use the iPad to solve it. This way you will make the iPad useful. Needing to manage a project. Needing to keep track of expenses. Now find a way the iPad can help you with a task.  Often it will be an app, but not always.
Either way, enjoy the iPad and enjoy making it useful. There are ways to do it, you just have to identify what you want to do and let it help you do that.

If you want to use your iPad to the fullest, then this video course will certainly help you.
